Course overview

A society that promotes gender equality has highest chances of economic and human development. In 2007, it was noted in a report by World Bank to the Ministry of Trade and Industry that combating gender inequalities can lead to reduced poverty levels and increased opportunities for both genders thus meeting all the MDG Goals.

Gender inequalities cannot be ignored by any nation aiming to realize economic growth and poverty reduction.

Discrimination against women can be seen in statistics even at international levels where 70% of the world’s poor are women and children, 1% of the world’s land is owned by women, women do 66% of the world’s work for 33% of earned income, where women account for majority of home careers as well as 80% of refugees and internally displaced people being women and children.
